Vitamins and
Exercise
First, always consult a physician before starting any exercise routine. Are vitamins
essential when exercising? It’s true, you do not need to take vitamins while doing an exercise routine like
in Isaac’s F.A.T.A.S.S. But, if you want to progress, vitamins are
essential! A good multi-vitamin is preferred.
Why? Let’s break down some of the essential vitamins. Let us start with vitamin B, B6, and
B12. Vitamins B, B6, and B12 are great for sustained energy. What I mean is, if you are like most, you need
as much energy as possible to finish an exercise routine. Vitamins B and B12 are great for that. B vitamins
are also great for a healthy heart, as well as vitamin C, E, and Folic Acid. Vitamin B has many uses such
as
· Support and increase the rate of metabolism
· Maintain healthy skin and muscle tone
· Enhance immune and nervous system function
· Promote cell growth and division, including that of the red
bloodcells that help prevent anemia
· Reduce the risk of pancreatic cancer - one of the most lethal forms
of cancer when consumed in food, but not when ingested in vitamin tablet form.
Also, multi-vitamins that contain the amino acids leucine, isoleucine, and valine are
essential to exercise. Why, because the human body does not manufacture these certain amino acids. All three
of these amino acids are essential to muscle growth and recovery.
Vitamins C and D are essential for a healthy blood pressure, while immunity is best served
with vitamins C, A, and E.
For older men Saw Palmetto is essential for prostate health. Saw Palmetto has been used for
hundreds of years as both a food source and as a medicinal plant. Some recent studies have shown that it may
have beneficial effects for those suffering from benign prostatic hyperplasia (BPH), male pattern baldness
and other maladies.
For women, vitamin D as well as calcium, folic acid and fish oil are
essential.
So, you can see, by the few mentioned vitamins above, how vitamins are essential in exercise
as well as everyday life.
